Small Backyard Wedding with Modern + Retro Details

Claire + Adam always wanted an intimate backyard wedding filled with their closest friends and family. They had to downsize due to the pandemic, but they kept the modern vintage + retro vibes alive for their Wisconsin wedding!

A little about Claire + Adam—they’ve known each other since third grade after Claire transferred schools and they reconnected after college. Claire mentioned to me that she always knew that he was ‘the one’, ever since grade school, despite being total opposites (she describes herself as wild + calm and Adam as wild + crazy). You could feel the love between these two from the moment you met them and it was soooooo obvious how perfect they were for each other.

The day started out at Claire’s parents’ house where she was getting ready. I knew that Claire was creative and had a love of design (she did just graduate with a BFA in Graphic Design from Steven’s Point!) but I could see where she got it from—her parent’s house was ADORABLE, and the perfect setting for their wedding. Claire was dressed in the most gorgeous vintage dress with the cutest mules and a dainty boho flower crown. She was such a gorgeous, vintage-inspired summer bride! Her bouquet was also so perfect, it was designed by the amazing babes over at Fersk Floral Artistry.

We all headed to the church with Claire + Adam’s family and friends in tow. The ceremony itself was lovely and you could tell that Claire + Adam could not wait to finally be married! Since the wedding had been downsized to only immediate fam, Claire’s bridesmaids surprised her outside of the church after the ceremony—it was such a sweet moment to experience and Claire loved it! We decided to stop at their old grade school building (where it all started!) and we wandered the open halls and took some photos.

We headed to Claire’s parents’ house once again for the cutest little backyard shindig I’ve ever seen. The retro + vintage vibes were everywhere, and there were yard games, snacks, a catered dinner, and tents that were surrounded by fields of prairie grass. Claire + Adam danced to Darlin’ by The Beach Boys (a personal fav of mine, I almost sobbed) and it was so so so magical. I finished the day with some sunset photos of Claire + Adam while their family watched adoringly on the sidelines (see the second to last photo…lol). I seriously can’t wait to see the both of them next year for their big summer reception!

Take a peak at Claire + Adam’s summery modern + vintage wedding - thank you for including me in your gorgeous day, Claire + Adam! <3
