Still have questions?
I don’t blame you!
Yassss! Travel is a huge part of my job, and I travel for about 60% of my couples during the year. I always try and squeeze a few sessions in everywhere I'm already headed, and am always down to come to you. I would love to come to your neck of the woods, meet you on an adventurous trip of yours, or capture your destination wedding!
A few places you can find me pretty regularly - Colorado, Arizona, Southern Cali, Northern Cali, Seattle, New York City. BUT, I'll follow you anywhere y'all.
First of all, YES. Second of all, PLEASE! When you book your elopement with me, we'll develop a plan together to bring your adventurous vision to life. An elopement can be anywhere from just the two of you sharing your vows at sunset, to a whole day filled with fun events you share in together, and I want to hear all about that vision! Even if you know you want to elope but have no idea where yet, I have so much insight on locations around the US that I can offer, along with a bucket list of locations for a discounted rate! I'm here to guide you, so let's get to planning.
Yes yes yes! I understand that finding vendors that are comfortable + have experience with LGBTQ couples is (unfortunately) never straightforward, and I'm here to make it clear that all love is always proudly welcomed by me.
Absolutely! After you inquire with me and we get to talking about the feel of your wedding day, I’ll share a couple galleries with a similar vibe + atmosphere so you’ll know exactly what you can expect.
I spend an equal amount of time blending into your day so that you can live through the feeling each moment brings you, but I’m also without a doubt present, hyping you up and giving you prompts to make you look like your coolest selves. I’ll be the one getting your fam in line so we can breeze through those family photos and b-line for the cocktail hour, and making sure we carve out the time needed to get all the images that represent you and your day in the most authentic way.
Depending on the time of year, you can expect your full gallery to be delivered to you via email no later than 8 weeks after your wedding or session date. But there’s always sneak peeks while you sit tight—I’ll usually text or email you a handful of images the day after your wedding + am always sharing sneaks on insta, so follow along @nicolecalivaphoto!
I always include a second shooter for traditional weddings larger than 100 guests! If you’re having a smaller + more intimate wedding and still want two of us to capture more of the fun, we can add one on to your collection.
We embrace it! (if you want to!) I will never cancel on anyone for bad weather. If it's a session and you'd rather reschedule, we can definitely try and figure something out. For outdoor weddings, you should always have a "plan b", and if that fails too I'll still be your girl. I have a pretty cute rain coat, and I'm not mad if I have to wear it (and my gear will be protected too, don't worry). I'm not afraid to get rainy + muddy with you, so I'll leave it up to y'all!
At all weddings, I carry two camera bodies on me, my second has at least one camera on them, and I also carry a backup body in my bag. So even if something unexpectedly stops working, WE GOOD Y'ALL.
As far as physically backing up your photos, I shoot with a dual memory card slot on my camera so I automatically have a duplicate of each photo while I’m shooting. When I get home to my computer I immediately import all of my cards to an external hard drive, back them all up to a cloud, and keep the memory cards safe in my desk drawer until I've delivered your final photos safe + sound to you.
Should I have any kind of medical emergency incur in the weeks leading up to your wedding, I will do everything I can to secure a trusted associate photographer to be present to shoot your day. THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN, but hey everyone asks!
I know we haven't officially met, but you'll soon find I am kween of awkward. Or really just a cheese queen. For most people, having their engagement photos are the first really nice photos they'll have taken of them, since like high school? (lookin at you senior photos lol), so I would 100% expect you to both be weird in front of the camera! Most of my couples who feel really shy and weird in front of my camera in the beginning, by the end are suddenly being so goofy and handsy and laughing their butts off. I'm not sure if I have anything to do with it, but I promise you we will have SO much fun, and all I want is to make you feel like cutie models. I'm all about giving you fun prompts to bring out the true sides of your love. This is also why I LOVE having a session with you before your big day, it gives us a no-pressure environment to just get loose and have some fun together.
*pro-tip: bring a six-pack for you two to share, or bust open a bottle of champagne! A little bubbly courage is always welcomed.
Need some music inspo?
If music were a love language, it would be mine.
Name a memory that wasn’t made more meaningful when a song accompanied it? Music makes everything feel more cinematic to me, and I spend a lot of time curating playlists to fit certain moods + themes (you’ll definitely catch me playing some fun tunes at your session).
