Nicole Caliva Photography | Styled Shoot: Running River Designs x Olio Goods x Paint Mines
When you're fortunate enough to have a growing relationship with a fellow dreamer and creatress, you don't let an opportunity pass you by to collaborate when you get together! I've known Rachel, the boss lady of Running River Organics and Medicinal Threads, since we were freshman in high school, in a small town with nothing to do other than imagine how we could both exist in the world of fashion one day. We took any and every art class we could in high school, plotting out 'our version' of a Free People catalogue, and enjoying (too many) impromptu photo shoots on the back roads of Wisconsin.
Well all these years later, Rachel has created an incredible career for herself with an ever-changing line of handmade organic women's clothing. All of her designs are her own creations, hand-dyed using a natural and sustainable dying process.
Her newest collection of garments are the epitome of the easy breezy summer style we all want to achieve: just throw in a hat, shades, and some mules and you're set.
Alongside Rachel's designs were tassel necklaces from another girl boss hero of mine, Olio Goods. Using wood as her main medium, Judy hand turns her work on her beloved lathe (if you've never watched someone do this process, it's kind of magical to watch), and adds horsehair to create the perfect boho tassel. I can 100% say that her pieces are staples in my accessory collection—I've worn them with jeans & graphic tees, I've worn them to weddings, and everything in between.
So as if Running River Organics + Olio Goods weren't already a style match made in heaven, we had an amazing gal from Conifer reach out to us over social media offering to help out with our shoot and be our model (thank you times a million Samantha!!). As we got to know Samantha on our drive to our shoot location, we learned that she is a private yoga instructor who focuses on intentional living through nutrition, yoga, and energy work. She is such a gentle soul whom we were so lucky to get to know through this experience!
Pairing all of these elements with the already-existing beauty of the Paint Mines, about an hour and 40 minutes southeast of Denver, we knew we were in for a treat, but didn't realize just how suiting it would all be! The soft washed hues of the canyon were the perfect backdrop for these natural designs, and the sun was kind to us, giving us that golden light and shadows through all the curves of the canyon.
